  6. Homework Policy • Assignments are to be turned in before specials on the due date. • Assignments turned in late receive a 20% penalty. • Assignments turned in 7 days after the due date will result in a zero. • Blue Slips may be given for late work. • Late work may result in the loss of recess.

  7. Dress Code • No short shorts – must cover the buttocks and a modest area of the leg • Tank tops must have straps at least 2 inches wide EACH • No baggy/saggy pants • No see through clothing • No undergarments showing • No alcohol, drugs, gambling, defamatory, obscene, or gang related messages on clothing • Ear Piercings only • No Unnatural Hair Colors • No plastic flip-flops • All other items on dress code policy

  8. Attendance • Please schedule appointments for after school • If after school is not possible, then first thing in the morning is best • Letter after 5 days missed • Truancy Letter after 10 days missed • Absences result in missed instruction time • Student’s responsibility to complete all assignments missed due to an absence

  9. Math • Glencoe Math Book • Time Tests • Math Skills • TWIST Packets (Science Grade)

  10. Social Studies • Glencoe Social Studies Book • Ancient Civilizations w/ Related Projects • Castle Day (March 6th) • Country Research Reports (Ongoing – Culminating in a Presentation in May)

  11. Science • District Kits • Measuring Time (One-Minute Timers) • Landforms • Experimenting with Plants • Health • Egg Drop

  12. Reading • Harcourt Reading Book • Literature Studies • Reading Skills • AR • Daily Independent Reading Expectation is 50 pages (Based on a rate of 1 page per min for 60 minutes) • Must take AR test on book to show comprehension • Daily participation points for independent reading • Track pages daily

  13. Language • Write for the Future / from the Beginning • Focus on the following Genres: • Essay (Descriptive, Expository, Persuasive) • Personal Narrative • Story • Letters • Grammar Skills • Poetry

  14. Field Trips • Planned or Being Considered • Kartchner Caverns (Landforms): 2nd Quarter • Renaissance Festival (Middle Ages): 3rd Quarter • MIM (Ancient Cultures): May • Tax Credits will be gladly accepted and are encouraged when paying for field trips. • We will let you know how much the field trips cost as the year progresses.
