At the end of every large muscle group we have a Traction Ephysis. A Traction Ephysis is a growth plate. Excessive use of the muscle may cause a separation or irritation of the growth plate.
Activity irritates (more painful). • Local temperature increase. • Painful to compress or squeeze • Rest reduces pain. • Medical referral required. • Return to activity when pain- free.
HAMSTRING STRAIN • Stretch plus contractionis the mechanism of injury for any muscle. • Criteria for assessment.
Stretch, Strength, Palpation, Girth. • Grade II Strain states that there is a 50% decrease in stretch, significant decrease in strength, pain on palpation.
What is a normal SLR? Whatever the other side does! Grade II.. At about 50% of the range of the opposite side the athlete would say that they feel something in the muscle.
QUADRICEPS CONTUSION Quad is pinched between two hard surfaces; the femur and an external hard object (knee).
