  4. State Nicknames • Texas: Lone Star State • New Mexico: Land of Enchantment • Oklahoma: Sooner State • Arizona: The Grand canyon State The Grand Canyon in Arizona

  7. The land of the region The Southwest region has evergreen trees, Pecos River, rocky mountains, desert, and warm and cold temperatures. In winter you would not need a jacket if you were heading to Texas, but if you were going to the Colorado Mountains you would need one. It’s mostly hot in New Mexico all year round. It hardly snows. Arizona and Texas are the two hottest states in the U.S. and they’re both in our region!

  8. economy • Texas makes money off coal and minerals. • Arizona makes money off gas and there mines. • New Mexico has cattle dairy like cheese milk and ice cream they also have hay and pecans. • Oklahoma has pigs wheat and lots of chickens.

  9. Culture • Oklahoma’s culture is mostly about native American’s they have very bright colors and happy lives. • Texas’s culture is dancing and horse riding • Arizona’s culture is like Oklahoma’s but they have different native people. • New Mexico’s culture has happy music and dancing.
