Education • Two year training program for certification & License to practice. • SLCC and U of U are the only two schools that offers OTA programs. • Have to take 36 credits every three years to maintain certification
On the job • This career has a wide range of areas from pediatrics to geriatrics. • You help people with disabilities or who have been injured back to the highest levelof functioning possible and restore their independence. • You use creativity and adaptive equipment to help them in their everyday lives.
Future Prospects • For this only being a two year degree you can make really good money. Utah Futures.com says $53,640 per year is the Utah median. • There is a high demand for COTAs and according to wwwe.bls.gov in 2012 there was 38,600 • available jobs and stated to be that way through 2020. • Competition wise, is the people you graduate with which is like 25-30 people.
