U.S. Ethanol Capacity • 2006 – record growth continued – 97 plants in 21 States • Current Capacity – 4.48 Billion Gallons (BG) • Record production of 3.9 billion gallons in 2005 – 1.63 BG in 2000 • Currently 33 plants under construction – 1.9 BG new capacity • Dry Mills account for 75% of Capacity • Farmer Owned Plants – 46 • Farmer Owned Plants = 39% Industry Capacity • Energy bill passed in 2005 authorizing 4 billion gallons of renewable fuels to be blended into nation’s fuel supply in 2006, rising to 7.5 billion gallons by 2012 • USDA projects ethanol production to reach or exceed 7 BG by 2010 • 7.5 BG of ethanol from corm = 2.5 billion bushels • Source -- RFA Agricultural Economics
