  1. What You Need to Know About Botox and Fillers If you’ve been searching online for a solution for your wrinkles, folds, or creases, you’ve likely come across Botox and fillers. These non-surgical cosmetic procedures have the power to transform the look of your face with just a few quick injections into the skin. If you’re new to Botox and facial fillers, it’s important to know that these two treatments have some similarities but also distinct differences. Before heading to a Botox clinic for treatment, here are a few things you should know. What Exactly Is a Filler? Injectable facial fillers treats the soft tissues of the face to restore volume and contour the face. When injected into the skin, the filler material helps to “fill in” wrinkles and restore a smoother appearance. As most facial fillers, such as hyaluronic acid, are only temporary, the body will eventually absorb the filler material and the treatment will need to be redone to maintain the results. It’s normal for aging skin to lose volume in the form of bone, fat, muscle tone, and skin elasticity. Fillers help restore this lost volume for skin that appears smooth, plump, and youthful.

  2. Is Botox Similar to Fillers? One of the biggest similarities between Botox and fillers are that they both are injected with a syringe. However, that is where the similarities end. Each of these compounds is designed to perform different functions. Botox are used to smooth out wrinkles caused by repeated muscle movements such as smiling, frowning, squinting and other facial expressions resulting in wrinkles. Botox works by temporarily blocking the signal from the nerves to the muscles so that the wrinkles formed by muscle movement relaxes and softens. Fillers on the other hand, are used to “fill in” wrinkles that have already been formed due aging and loss of volume in the skin. In some cases, wrinkles may be too deep to be treated by Botox alone which is why the treatment will then be combined with fillers to reduce the crease resulting in a smoother and youthful skin. Where Can Injectables Be Used? As a wrinkle treatment, fillers can be used to eliminate nasolabial folds in the temples, cheeks, around the mouth (laugh lines) and even under the eyes. A Botox injection is often used when smoothing out forehead lines or the lines in between the eyebrows and crow’s feet or the lines in the corner of the eyes. These skin tightening treatments are also effective at diminishing the appearance of a down-turned mouth, vertical lip lines, and wolf or “bunny” lines between the eyes. Botox in Singapore can also be used for an instant brow lift. Are There Any Side Effects? Like with all cosmetic procedures, there are some side effects that can occur after treatment. However, these side effects are usually mild in nature and last just a few hours following the procedure. Both filler and Botox side effects include post-injection swelling, redness at the injection site, and slight bruising. While more serious complications can occur such as headaches and allergic reactions, these are very rare. Who Should Undergo Treatment? If you’re dealing with fine lines, wrinkles, or loss of volume in the face, then fillers or Botox may be right for you. Each non-surgical facelift treatment may be used by men or women who have realistic expectations about the results of the procedure. There is no downtime following the treatments and you can return to your day as normal. Botox and dermal fillers have revolutionized the field of cosmetic surgery.
