2005 budget: 51,900 US dollarsMajor Project objectives: Reducing the consumption of CFC’s by 7,182 tons/year through providing incentive funding to end-users of refrigerants (R-12 & R-502) from the industrial or commercial sector to convert or retrofit the equipment to employ non-CFC refrigerants and to purchase 4 mobile air-conditioning (MAC) Recovery and Recycling (MAC R&R) machines and 6 sets of MAC service equipment and tools.
Achieved results 2005 Public awareness campaign on retrofit and conversion of refrigeration installations and MAC retrofit to ozone-friendly refrigerants (the state & private industrial sector, Exhibitions - FOOD & DRINKS. FOOD TECHNOLOGY, MOLDECO 2005) Establishment of conditions for the participation at the TA program International tender with participation of major suppliers of R&R equipment, the purchase of equipment.
Achieved results 2005 (2) Training of refrigeration end-users (November, 9, 2005 with participation of the international consultant and 22 local companies). Training MAC service technicians on MAC retrofitprocedures (November, 11, 2005 with participation of the international consultant and 10 companies and entrepreneurs). Training manuals for the end-users (translated into Romanian and distributed to MAC service centers, CD’s regarding the methods of retrofit of MAC for the service centers already mentioned). Contracts elaboration for end-users who will receive incentive payment and for MAC service companies that will receive R&R equipment.

Perspectives: Development of national legal - normative framework, harmonization with international one (adhesion to the Beijing Amendment) Following the ODSs phase-out scenario in the country (ODSs quota system) Stimulation and encouragement/support local industry to import and implement the new ozone friendly technologies Training of technicians, develop public awareness campaigns (support research & development of alternative refrigeration equipment)
