Who am I? Mirta L. Kirkland Doc Student Curry School of Education Dept. of Leadership & Foundations I am the liaison between DITL & Curry
What is DITL? • A program with UVA Community Relations that has UVA students helping local young people establish and build a respect for education. • Mentoring and tutoring are the components of the program.
When and where do you do this? • It is based on your schedule – what’s convenient for you, based on a selection of sites that have been provided for you in your manual and will be available for signup on Thursday and Friday, outside Prof. Covert’s office.
Why are you doing this? • It is part of your grade! • You want to make a difference in the life of a child! • You want to gain job skills that will benefit you in whatever career you pursue: Responsibility Teamwork The ability to deliver information concisely to another person Listening Skills
How do you do this? With professionalism, enthusiasm, and positive thinking!
