First change • Sept. 20--- Monday AM meeting of DPP worker & Co. Attorney prior to Family Court • Discussion to elicit necessary information for present & future court appearances • Worker brings specified materials to support findings (release of records, drug screens, documents to replace distant witness testimony… )
Second change • Nov. 18---develop and implement resource & case information checklists • “specified materials” to be used when petition to remove is filed • potential resources whenever a case is opened by a DPP worker • Reviewed with DPP workers • Added lists to workers initial intake packet • Team supervisor collects lists weekly
Third change • Dec. 10 – Pre-trial conference prior to adjudication hearing • Co. Attorney schedules meeting w/DPP staff, family, other attorneys, guardian ad litem, Family Court Judge • Review progress toward goals set for return of children.
Fourth Change • Family Court to refer to Family Preservation Program • FPP staff attend Family Court meeting • Available on-site to assist with referral to FPP
5th Change in progress • Development of Treatment Team • Championed by County DCBS Team Supervisor • Key features: • Twice monthly 2 hr. meeting of Co. DPP workers, Co. Attorney, parents scheduled in Court, involved community partners & treatment providers • Part of DPP plan and Court ordered by the Judge
Results to-date • 26 children entered foster care between 9/1/10 and 3/17/11 • 9 of those returned home • All prior to 45 day adjudication hearing • All still in home • Other 9 have been in care since 1/20/11
