What is DELTA SIGMA PI ALL ABOUT? • National co-ed professional fraternity • Open to business and economics majors ONLY! • Chapter participates in all types of events throughout the semester: • Professional activities • Social events • Community service • Recruiting • Fundraising • Opportunities and experience to help you gain the important skills needed for success in the business world!

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES • Guest speakers from various types of businesses • Tyler Tuminia (VP of Marketing and Operations – Goldkang) • Lisa Masteralexis (MLB Agent and Sport Mgmt Professor) • Mikal Weiss (Northampton Lawyer and Contracts Professor) • Resume & cover letter workshops • Michael Schurter (Chapter Advisor and SOM 310 Teacher) • Internship & study abroad panels • Business tours, conferences, and seminars

COMMUNITY SERVICE • American Red Cross Blood Drive • Sending postcards to children in the hospital • Macy’s Believe Campaign • Relay for Life at Amherst College • Helping assemble mailings for the Amherst Survival Center • Collecting winter coats for the homeless • Google’s “Chrome for a Cause” campaign

  8. How do I become a brother?

  9. recruitment • You’ve already made the first step, by attending one of our “Meet the Chapter” events to find out about DSP! • Sign up to receive email reminders and get on our list! • Submit a resume and cover letter by February 6 at 6:00pm & attend mandatory interview that night at 8pm • If accepted into the Pledge Education program, you will notified by February 8th, and will receive an invitation to our Pledge Ceremony.

PLEDGE EDUCATION PROGRAM • The Pledge Education program is a 9 week program. • Throughout the program, you will take weekly quizzes to help you prepare for the final exam. • You will also work in committees to plan several events for your pledge class, including a community service project, a professional event, a fundraiser, and a social event. • Current members will also work with the pledges to help them prepare for initiation and ensure they fulfill the necessary requirements. • At the end of the program, the prospective members will take a final exam demonstrating what they have learned about DSP throughout the program.

  11. WHAT Does it take to be a brother?

DSP MEMBERSHIP • All brothers are required to pay dues each semester • They are expected to attend all weekly meetings (Wednesdays at 8pm), and participate in chapter events. • Members will also have opportunities to work on committees to organize larger events, and eventually become officers in the chapter.

A FEW ADDED BENEFITS…. • There’s almost always another Brother who is in your class, or has taken the class before! • Get help with your difficult classes from Brothers who have already “been there” • Swap textbooks and save money • Form study groups and share notes • Learn about different internships and study abroad programs • It’s also a great extracurricular activity to have on your resume! • Employers love to see meaningful extracurricular activities • Work on committees and projects that help you get hands-on experience with fundraising, promoting, and other areas

OTHER OPPORTUNITIES • Regional and Provincial LEAD Conferences:Meet brothers from other chapters, and learn more about the fraternity and the business world. • Networking: Gain valuable networking opportunities through guest speakers and fraternity alumni. • Scholarships: There are many scholarships available to DSP brothers through the national fraternity. • Leadership Experience: By helping to organize and plan events, participating on committees, and even becoming an officer, members gain essential leadership & management skills.
