Look at the heading for Table 3A, page 289 and you will see this table is for ‘No External Sun Screen, Clear Glass.’ Look at the heading for Table 3A, page 290and you will see this table is for ‘No External Sun Screen, Heat Absorbing Glass.’ Look at the heading for Table 3A, page 291and you will see this table is for ‘No External Sun Screen, Reflective Glass.’ The remaining Table 3’s have similar data headings. SO you MUST make sure you have the correct Table 3’s or your load calculation will be incorrect.
Let’s dissect this table. It is divided into 4 subsections. The first thing you have to do is determine the type of ‘shading’ on the window.
Then you determine the number of panes. Do NOT concern yourself with the ‘U-Value’ or the ‘SC’ or the ‘SHGC.’
Then you determine the ‘Design CTD’ column to use. The ‘Design CTD’ is what you determined using Table 1 and can be found in the upper left corner of ‘J1 Form.’ SO you NEED to compare two pieces of information: Design CTD and Exposure, in order to get the HTMs. The HTM is then based on the ‘Exposure.’
