Name: Nathan Coltart C11 Year 8 What I like about being a Wellsway Sports Ambassador: I like seeing people enjoying sport and having fun during sports days. When I was in my primary school I had sports ambassadors visit and wanted to do what they did when I got to Wellsway. Also, being a sports ambassador has helped my organisation and it has helped me to be more confident when speaking in front of lots of people, I now volunteer myself more to read something out in front of people. The biggest inspirations in my life: My biggest inspiration of my life is my Dad because he can start a conversation with anyone and has a big love for sport like me.
Name: Freya Money B9 Year 10 What I like about being a Wellsway Sports Ambassador: I like being a sports ambassador because it gives me experiences of a life time that I will never forget and that I would never of had if I wasn’t a sports ambassador. It also gives me opportunities to help out around the community and lots of different primary schools. It gives me a defined role in Wellsway sport. The biggest inspirations in my life: The biggest inspiration in my life is Jessica Ennis. This is because, she was the poster girl for the Olympics but still with all the pressure, delivered to make the nation proud.
Name: Josh Rice B10 Year 8 What I like about being a Wellsway Sports Ambassador: I get to meet lots of different people and I have particularly enjoyed helping younger children with sporting events such as sports days. I have enjoyed encouraging them to do their best at different activities and sharing my enthusiasm for sport with them. One of the biggest inspirations in my life is Lionel Messi – despite being quite small he was very determined from a young age to be a successful footballer. He is now one of the best players in the world and has amazing skill and agility, proving he has determination and an ability to never give up. He is small but strong!
Name: Lucy Brown N11 Year 10 What I like about being a Wellsway Sports Ambassador: I like being part of the sports ambassador program because it gives you so many amazing opportunities. For example, going to the Olympics and meeting all the athletes taking part. The atmosphere of all the people was something I will never forget. I also like working with younger children and encouraging them to do a range of sports. I am proud to be a sport ambassador and I really enjoy taking part in all the opportunities we are given. The biggest inspirations in my life: My biggest inspiration is Winne Harlow because she hasn’t let her condition stop her being what she wants to be. It shows courage and determination.
Name: Millie Stanford N11 Year 10 What I like about being a Wellsway Sports Ambassador: The sports ambassador program is such a great program to be involved in. I think my favourite thing about being a sports ambassador is, you have so many amazing opportunities to experience. These can range from, helping at a local sports days, to meeting Olympic and Paralympic gold medallists. I enjoy sports ambassadors because it allows you to work with new people, gain confidence and be inspired by others. The biggest inspirations in my life: My biggest inspiration in my life is Serena Guthrie, England netball player. Serena inspires me because she is committed, hard working and determined. I think these three qualities are a huge part of not just sport, but life. I believe you have to be determined in order to reach a goal, but if you’re not hard working and committed you will never quite reach that goal.
Name: Will Burston S12 Year 8 What I like about being a Wellsway Sports Ambassador: I have had a chance to develop my leadership skills whilst working with primary children. My favourite event this year was helping to run the Marksbury Sports Day at Chelwood. I have really enjoyed being involved in the Community Events such as the Dance Umbrella and the Wellsway Fun Run. Being a Sports Ambassador also gives you a chance to work with people from other year groups. It has been an amazing experience and I look forward to continuing my role next year as a sports ambassador. The biggest inspirations in my life:Shane Warne inspired me to bowl leg spin. MuttiahMuralitharan is one of the greatest spin bowls ever and also shares my birthday. Dad has spent hours teaching me everythingI know about cricket and is now my club coach.
Name: Noah Howell C11 Year 8 What I like about being a Wellsway Sports Ambassador: The part I like best about being a Wellsway Sports Ambassador is definitely just being part of it all: the sports days, getting together for meetings, events round the school and maybe helping others who struggle but still have a go. That’s what I enjoy most - the fun, the achievements and the excitement of being an Ambassador. The biggest inspiration in my life is Derrick Rose who is a world famous basketball player. He overcame all the odds, so to become the man he is today is amazing.

My favourite sports are cricket and rugby and I really enjoy leading sport activities and watching young children play sport. The biggest inspirations in my life: My biggest inspiration is my Granddad because he has always been there for me and is someone I look up to.
Name: Sam Parsons S12 Year 8 What I like about being a Wellsway Sports Ambassador: I like being a Wellsway Sports Ambassador as I have had lots of new opportunities to get involved with a variety of sports both at Wellsway and within the community. For example, the Dance Umbrella, Community Sports Day and Fun Run and Wellsway’sGot Talent. I have made lots of new friends and have really enjoyed going to primary schools and supporting their sports days. The biggest inspirations in my life: Stuart Broad is my biggest sporting inspiration, as cricket is my passion. His dedication and commitment to improving his game, particularly his fast bowling, helps me to strive towards my cricketing goals.
Name: Huw Perrett B10 Year 8 What I like about being a Wellsway Sports Ambassador: I enjoy being a sports ambassador because it means I am involved in many different sports events, including helping out at local primary school sports days. You also get to meet new people and make new friends. The biggest inspirations in my life: My biggest inspiration is Steven Gerrard the Liverpool and England football captain. This is because he is an amazing player, who has achieved great success and overcome a lot of problems including a serious foot injury as a child.
Name: Millie Warren S9 Year 10 What I like about being a Wellsway Sports Ambassador: I enjoy being a Wellsway Sports Ambassador because it gives me lots of opportunities and experiences I otherwise wouldn’t have the chance to be part of. I enjoy engaging with children and promoting sport with enthusiasm. Visiting our partner primary schools and working with the younger children allows me to do this. This gives me the chance to develop and expand many skills, such as: communication, organisation and leadership; all of which will help me in the future. The biggest inspirations in my life: The biggest inspiration in my life is Siobhan O'Connor because she is very dedicated and determined. She always has time for you, and looks at you as a person, not just a swimmer.
Name: Amy Dixon N11 Year 10 What I like about being a Wellsway Sports Ambassador: I enjoy being a sports ambassador for Wellsway because we get to participate in lots of different sports activities. For example, we go to help out with sports days for other schools. This is really enjoyable because we get to meet loads of new people. We also get many opportunities such as visiting the Olympic Village. The biggest inspirations in my life: My inspiration was my Nan. This is because she overcame many struggles in life. This showed courage and determination.
Name: Ellie Gussey S7 Year 9 What I like about being a Wellsway Sports Ambassador: I love the feeling of happiness when you have just helped younger children in an activity or sport and they say thank you, it makes me feel special and that I am helping the younger generation enjoy sport just as much as I do. I love seeing younger peoples faces sparkling with happiness when they are doing sport it reminds me of me when I was younger. But, most of all I love helping others enjoy sport just as much as I do. The biggest inspiration in my life: Is Sam Murry she is a pentathlete. I want to be a pentathlete when I am older and Sam is my biggest inspiration in it. She wasn’t one of the people that got everything handed to her on a plate she trained and trained and trained now she has a Olympic silver medal around her neck! I am very much like her I have to train and train to be good and I may not be the best but, I know that if I keep training and trying I have the best chance just like anyone else and that’s why she is my biggest inspiration.
Name: Rhiannon Bartlett S7 Year 11 What I like about being a Wellsway Sports Ambassador: I like being a sports ambassador because I have a keen eye for sport as I have grown up around it, and I want to pass it on to the younger generation. I love helping out at the sports days, festivals and workshops in the primary schools. I also like putting forward my ideas and making a difference to the school. Even though my involvement as an ambassador may hinder due to me revising for my exams, I have thoroughly enjoyed being a sports ambassador and it has been a great opportunity The biggest inspirations in my life: My biggest inspirations in my life would be my parents, because they have always been there for me.
Name: Jade White C11 Year 11 What I like about being a Wellsway Sports Ambassador: I love being a sports ambassador. It’s so nice to feel that I have taught somebody something new and that they have learnt a new skill or technique. I love seeing younger people than myself enjoy doing sport, I get a sense of joy when I see people having fun in sport. I enjoy meeting new people and making friends. It always a different experience, every time I do a festival or sports day something different happens. The Sports ambassadors have helped me to gain confidence in talking to people and leading a warm up or skills practice. Sports ambassadors is great. The biggest inspirations in my life: One of the biggest inspirations in my life is my mum, she is always determined to do her best, and puts other people before herself. She is a confident women who can get through anything. I wish I that I could be like her when I’m her age!
Name: Joe Martin S8 Year 9 What I like about being a Wellsway Sports Ambassador: I like being a sports ambassador because I love the fact that I feel like I am helping other people out. I also enjoy meeting new people and working with them. I remember when I was little that when sports ambassadors or other older students came into primary school I was always so happy and grateful for them helping out, so I definitely want to return the favour and make other people feel like I did. The biggest inspirations in my life: England rugby player Manu Tuilagi. He inspires me because he plays the game with so much pace and power and is fearless.
Name: Callum Bishop S11 Year 11 What I like about being a Wellsway Sports Ambassador: I love many things about being a Sports Ambassador. I love the fact that it feels like we are actually making a difference with kids in sport. When you get to run events and go to places like Marksbury or Fosseway, then you can really get an idea as to how much you and what you do impacts on the children. Being a Sports Ambassador gives you a sense of confidence that has helped me and will help you in all aspects of your life, in and out of school. The biggest inspirations in my life: There are many inspirations in my life but the biggest inspiration has to be my Dad. Whatever I have done, he has always been behind me and supported me in anything I chose. Any success in life now or in the future, I owe to him.
Name: Carys Parker C11 Year 9 What I like about being a Wellsway Sports Ambassador: I like being a sports ambassador because I get to talk to different age groups and build up my confidence. I also like being a sports ambassador because you get to help with different activities and games. I think my favourite time was at the Dance Umbrella because we were all helping as a team to make the show go well, so we had to have confidence in ourselves and to talk to others. The biggest inspirations in my life: My inspiration is my dad because even when I am losing or down he always makes me think positive about myself and believe in myself.
Name: Gemma Knight B2 Year 9 What I like about being a Wellsway Sports Ambassador: I really like being a Wellsway sports ambassador as we get to meet lots of different people from other schools and we have also met Olympians and Paralympians, which I found interesting. As sports ambassadors we also develop new skills and I especially enjoy helping younger children from the local primary schools to enjoy taking part in sporting activities. The biggest inspirations in my life: The biggest inspirations in my life so far has to be the Olympic and Paralympic athletes.
Name: Kim Knight B2 Year 9 What I like about being a Wellsway Sports Ambassador: I like being a Wellsway sports ambassador as we get to help younger students from the local primary schools, I especially like helping at their sports day. We also meet to discuss future activities and sports at Wellsway. As a sports ambassador we get to develop leadership skills and how to work in teams. The biggest inspirations in my life: The biggest inspirations in my life has to be Paralympic athletes, who overcome disabilities to take part in various sports.
Name: Lucie Harrison S9 Year 10 What I like about being a Wellsway Sports Ambassador: I really enjoy being a sports ambassador because we get many amazing opportunities, for example, helping at Fosse way (specialist school) sports event. I liked this experience because I enjoy encouraging people to face new challenges. It also helped me to develop excellent team work and leadership skills. I have had the chance to visit different primary schools and work with different ages. The biggest inspiration in my life: My Grandad. He was brought up in the back-streets of Liverpool but worked hard to gain a place at Cambridge University. He is fluent in Russian and can speak 6 other languages. He has worked as the interpreter for many national and international football teams including; Manchester United, Russia and England. He has also written Eric Cantona’s biography.
Name: Ruby Watts B2 Year 9 What I like about being a Wellsway Sports Ambassador: My favourite thing about being a sports ambassador is the responsibility that is given to me by my teachers to make me be able to be more confident to talk to adults and younger kids and the experience to work with older people in our school. The biggest inspirations in my life: The biggest inspiration in my life is my dad because he has the courage to attempt other things and his determination to keep on doing things till he does something right.
Name: Alice Woodbridge S11 Year 10 What I like about being a Wellsway Sports Ambassador: I like being a sport ambassador because we get lots of opportunities to help out with events both inside and outside of school. I especially enjoyed helping at Fosseway school sports day because it was very different to any other sports day I have been to. It helps to build my confidence with other people and my leadership roles. The biggest inspirations in my life: All the cyclists in the ‘Tour de France’ because they cycle for hours at a time, and are involved in an awful crash but still get up and keep on fighting for the yellow jersey!
