Basic Information of the Institution • The IDB is the oldest of all regional development institutions of the world and constitutes the main source of multilateral financing for economic, social and institutional projects of development, and those of commerce and regional integration, in Latin America and the Caribbean. • The Bank was created in 1959. • In actuality it is composed of 47 member countries: • 26 borrowing countries • 21 non borrowing countries, including the United States, Japan, Republic of Korea, Canada, Israel and 16 European countries.
Basic Information of the Institution • The IDB headquarters is located in Washington, D.C. • The IDB has 26 Country Offices in Latin America and the Caribbean and 2 Special Offices, one in Europe and the other in Japan. • Has a staff of 1,805 employees. • The total capital of the Bank as of December 31, 2006 was of $US 100,953 billion. • The total of loans approved by the Bank from 1961-2006 has been for more than $US 145,020 billion. • In the year 2006, the total of loans offered by the Bank has been $US 6,380 billion.

Research Fellowship Program Up to 2 years of entry-level work experience. After completion, RF should move on to continue with their education or professional career in the labor market. RF provide the Bank with up-to-date knowledge and skills in a variety of areas pertinent to the Bank. Citizen of member countries only. Under 33 of age (38 for diversity candidates). Pursuing a university degree or have graduated in the last 3 years. One time participation. Fluent in at least 1 official language of the Bank.
Associate Professional Officer (APO) Up to 2-years contract. Paid by Governments with an agreement for APO Program. Currently: Italy; in process Germany and Austria. Under age 33 (38 for diversity program candidates) Candidate must have Masters Degree and has graduated within the last 3 years. One time participation.
