Equipment Procurement • It is anticipated (but not yet agreed) that: • - cost estimate will be updated after preliminary design completion • - groups of equipment will be assigned to US and EU for 75:25 split • - credit for US-EU inbalance amount will be agreed to • Equipment will be built to IEC standards for installation in France • Special requirements for nuclear installation not anticipated TBD (i.e. not Class 1E like a fission plant) • Equipment to be delivered to ITER site in France HV Switchgear HV Transformers MV Switchgear MV Transformers LV Load Centers LV Distribution Boards
Participants and Roles within US Activity • Administration • Liaison w/International Team • Monitor Engineering Design Activities • Oversight of E/C contract • Oversight of Procurements • Engineering • E/C Contract to: • prepare procurement specifications • solicit bids • perform bid evaluation • make purchase recommendation • award and execute contracts • provide QC and test witnessing at factories • arrange shipping • provide QC receipt inspection at ITER site • Procurement • Fabrication & Delivery US ITER Project Subcontract to Engineering/ Construction Firm Equipment Manufacturers
Schedule = activity involving US • 12 months for procurement • 18 months for fabrication • 24 months for installation • 12 months for commissioning
Summary • SSEPN is a conventional AC power substation & distribution system • US will procure 75% of equipment (except cables, D/G, and UPS) • Work will flow through an E/C firm to equipment manufacturers • Equipment will be per IEC standards for delivery and installation in France • Procurement/fabrication phase over 30 month period beginning 2010
Opportunities for Participation • More information about design, etc., is available via C. Neumeyer • Close contact with industry is sought to facilitate planning & budgeting!!
