  3. Goals for the Portfolio Recoup the total $125,000 of withdrawals from the Money Market Account. Earn a total return greater than 10% after five years. Invest in safe and secure financial institutions with high interest rates.

  4. The Process • Invest $200,000 into a 5 year, high-interest checking account. • Withdraw $25,000 per year from this account for extravagant vacations. • Invest $800,000 into a laddered Certificate of Deposit portfolio. Each CD will be re-invested into a five year CD when it matures.

  6. Money Market Query I created a query to return the institutions that offer interest rates greater than 2% and also offer the Money Market Account to function as a checking account. The query returns these results:

My Money Market Account I picked the Money Market account offered by Sovereign Bank for a few reasons: It offered a fairly high interest rate It offered the ability to function as a checking account It has local branches in case I need to make withdrawals in person.   9. CD Query A query was created in Microsoft Access to return CDs with the following stipulations: Maturity greater than 9 months Interest rate greater than 2.5% Rating higher than 2

  10. The CD Portfolio These CDs were picked with the help of the query because of their high interest rates and high security ratings.
