  2. Where is Poland located? • Poland is located in the middle of Europe near the western end of Russia • Total area of land of 312,685 • Population: 38,653,912

  3. Typical Meal ☺ • Some popular Polish foods include, potato dumplings, sausage, cabbage rolls, pierogi, and sauerkraut.

  4. Typical Meals • Some popular dessert-dishes are Kolaczki (jam-filled cookies), Paczki (similar to donuts, but are inserted with jelly), and Delicje (a popular store-bought chocolate covered buscuit.)

  5. Sports • In Poland, soccer is a very popular sport among people. • In the summer, many sports include playing in the water. In addition to that, biking, long distance running, kayaking, and canoeing.

  6. Education • Schools in Poland are usually for the people between ages 7-18. • The grading system isn’t based on letter grades, like ours. • Grades range from 1-5. • 5 being an A, and 1 being an F. • School is in session from 9 AM to 4 PM.

  7. Traditional Clothing • Polish dancing is probably the most popular talent in Poland. Depending on where you are from, there are different types of costumes. • Girls wear colorful dresses that have flower-patterns and have lace at the bottom. The top of their dresses have vests.

  8. Traditional Clothes 2 • Boys wear wool pants and a shirt. They have to wear black hats with a feather sticking out of it.

  9. Traditions • Christmas is a very special time to many Polish people. Before you can eat dinner, you have to break a wafer, called oplatek, and go around the room and give blessings to one another. • The day after Easter, there is a holiday called Smigus-Dingus, where you pour water on each other.
