Definition: A 3.8 paragraph contains three support sentences and a total of eight sentences, hence the name 3.8 paragraph. What is a 3.8 paragraph?
The first sentence is a topic sentence. (TS) • This sentence lets the audience know the subject to be discussed in your paragraph.
You will then offer a support sentence (SS) where you offer one piece of evidence to prove your topic sentence. • The SS is followed by an explanation sentence (EX) where you expand on the information in your SS. • This pattern is repeated two more times.
You will finish your 3.8 paragraph with a concluding sentence. (CS) • This sentence provides an overall statement for the information presented in your paragraph.
