A note of Thanks to The City School and INTEL for providing us with an opportunity to enhance our teaching skills as per the requirement of 21st Century.
Long-Term goals The students should be provided an environment based on teaching strategies of 21st century to enable them to enhance their language and comprehension skills.
Short-Term goals • Enhance all English Language skills. • Create an interactive classroom environment to enhance confidence level of the students. • Bloom’s Taxonomy to be integrated in all lessons planned.
Short-Term goals • Students to be motivated through various activities, certificates and classroom incentives. • They will be taught how to use a dictionary and search for the words or information online. • Students should be encouraged to help their fellow peers and learn to cooperate and share.

Instructional Strategies and tasks They will be provided word banks which may be obtained from the internet as well as books from where they would use new words and expressions to compose their own piece of writing. They will be taken to computer laboratory to search for new words using internet.
Instructional Strategies and tasks A series of questions (simple to complex) according to the Bloom’s Taxonomy will be given, which will gradually build a student’s knowledge in a way that they would reach to the conclusions themselves.
Instructional Strategies and tasks Questions which require brain storming will be given to the students. They will be given home tasks along with relevant internet links where they would be able to find activities and exercises for practice.
Instructional Strategies and tasks Interactive classroom sessions will be arranged for the students to discuss and share their ideas and information gathered from various means. i.e. Internet , magazines, newspapers etc.
Solutions to Anticipated Challenges Challenges Solutions • There is always a language barrier, since English is not the first language of the students. • Reading habit will be inculcated. Links to online websites will be provided to read stories and learn new words.

Comprehension sample • What does the red bottle contain? • What is the name of the Pharmacy? • How much medicine should be taken daily? • What other instructions are given on the cover? • Medicines should be kept away from children. Comment.
Time line August-September Group activities will be introduced to promote sharing of opinions and ideas and getting students acquainted with their class fellows.
Time line October-November New words will be introduced to develop vocabulary of the students. Daily links of websites will be provided. The students will be given a word to be searched on the internet.
Time Line December-January • The habit of book reading will be inculcated. • Interesting books will be kept in the class room. • Information on internet and in the books will be shared. • Students will be taken to ICT labs to search information using internet.
Time Line February Group discussions will be promoted to enhance knowledge regarding the subject as well as building up confidence in the pupil in terms of speech, knowledge and language.
TIME LINE March-April The students will be given tasks to be performed individually using internet along with computer. They would have build up a good vocabulary and language understanding by then. They will be required to formulate and create ideas using knowledge they have acquired.

Conclusion • By inculcating the 21st century skills the students would not only be able to gain knowledge related to technology with which they will be well equipped as well as gain a better understanding of the language English.
