  2. The Bottom Line –Author Unknown • “Face it. Nobody owes you a living. What you achieve or fail to achieve in your lifetime is directly related to what you do or fail to do. • No one chooses his parents or childhood but you can choose your own direction. Everyone has problems and obstacles to overcome but that too is relative to each individual. • Nothing is carved in stone. You can change anything in your life if you want to badly enough. Excuses are for losers. • Those who take responsibility for their action are the real winners in life. • Winners meet life’s challenges head on knowing there are no guarantees and give it all they’ve got. It’s never too late or too early to begin. Time plays no favorites and will pass whether you act or not. • Take control of your life. Dare to dream and take risks. If you aren’t willing to work for your goals, don’t expect others to. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF.

  4. What is efficacy? • Power or capacity (ability) for producing a desired result or effect; effectiveness

  5. What is teaching efficacy? • A teacher’s belief that they can promote learning for all students regardless of any background

  6. Demonstrating efficacy • Meets learning goals inside the classroom • Takes responsibility for successes and failures that occur • High efficacy teachers are constantly evaluating their teaching and how they can improve instruction

  7. Why is it important? • Teachers who have a high degree of efficacy feel the need to challenge themselves • They are always searching for new teaching techniques that work • TEACHERS DEMONSTRATE A PERSONAL SENSE OF EFFICACY BECAUSE THEY TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR WHAT STUDENTS LEARN

  8. Are teachers who have a high sense of efficacy perefect? • NO! • No one is perfect • However, these teachers are determined to stay committed and not give up on effective ways for students to learn

  9. Using a variety of strategies • Think VARIETY • Interactive instruction • Monitoring student progress • These methods help to motivate students to learn. They are involved!
