  2. The Yorkshire Dales are a walker’s paradise and a photographer’s dream. Our tourist attractions celebrate the uniqueness of the dales. They’re also the home of some famous products – notably Wensleydale cheese and Theakston’s Old Peculiar ale. The delights of Lower Wensleydale Our cottages are situated in Lower Wensleydale, the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales National Park. There are many pretty stone-built villages to explore. Wonderful landscapes, some rugged, many picturesque, provide lovers of photography with plenty of inspiration.

  3. What are the Yorkshire Dales? The Yorkshire Dales are a group of ‘dales’ or ‘districts’ with their own individual characters, named after the rivers that flow through them. The exception is our own Wensleydale which is named after the small village of Wensley. How far away are the Yorkshire Dales from your cottages? You can easily reach Wensleydale, Swaledale, Coverdale and Arkengarthdale from Dalesend Cottages, by car or bike. A landscape full of romance The Yorkshire Dales are a thrilling destination all year round. If it’s windswept, wild and wet, you can feel immersed in this moody and passionate famous literary landscape of Cathy and Heathcliff from Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights. If the dales are tranquil, sunny and full of birdsong, drink in the views, eat a picnic in a secret place, snooze by a stream or read poetry out loud to each other. The choices for a relaxing, energetic or fulfilling day are endless.

  4. Let the train take the strain The Wensleydale Railway offers a relaxing way to see the Dales. Hop on at Bedale (Leeming Bar). Once aboard you can travel all the way up the dale to Redmire where you can alight and explore Bolton Castle for the day. They often run steam engine ‘specials’ including a gin trip where you’re served a special gin. A base from which to explore to your heart’s content There’s so much on offer in the Yorkshire Dales, why not make a trip out of it? We’ve four luxury holiday cottages for couples in Lower Wensleydale. Our Hayloft Cottage has a wood burner and a luxurious free-standing bath at the foot of the bed. If you’d like a hot tub, you may want to consider Tack Room Cottage. For cottages with two rooms rather than open plan, take a look at Groom’s Rooms Cottage and Head Lad Cottage. www.dalesendcottages.co.uk
