  2. Goal to Address Annual Measurable Achievement Objectives (AMAOs) and English Proficiency Needs Part III

  3. The format is the same for the EL Academic Goal Page as the others reviewed. The reports that you use to determine your weaknesses are different. It is very important that you include an ESL teacher on your writing team if you have even one EL enrolled at your school. If you do not have an ESL teacher assigned to your school, you may contact the ESL Dept for assistance. (221-5189). If you do not serve any ELs, you will check the box to skip this section. AMAO-A: % of ELs who made a .5 gain on the ACCESS (n=10) AMAO-B: % of ELs who exited the ESL Program with a 4.8 or higher on the ACCESS (n=10) AMAO-C: YES or NO: Did EL subgroup make AYP in Reading and Math? (n=40) If you see N/A on the report, it is because your school did not have 10 ELs in your subgroup School Status Report

  6. What is the Goal for the English Learners in my school? “By the end of the 2012-2013 school year, School ABC will increase the % of ELs making APLA school-wide by __%” What are appropriate EL strategies? What Action Steps? Reasonable benchmarks? eCIP Worksheet: English Learner Goals

The ESL Strategy and Action Steps have been revised for the coming year based on “Lessons Learned” • The action steps on the worksheet represent the minimum steps that should be used with the EL population • You may add to them if you would like to make the action step more specific for your school Lessons Learned

  8. The ESL Department will be providing MCPSS SPECIFIC PD in the coming year. • Dates: • September 5 • October 10 • November 14 • January 15 • February 4 • If your school did not make AMAO-A or B, it is highly suggested administrators attend ESL PD for 2012-2013

  9. The ESL Department will be providing MCPSS SPECIFIC PD in the coming year. • “Select Teachers” means teachers selected by administration to attend • In STIPD • Title: “The EL Student in the MCPSS Classroom” • PD Title #: EL2012 ESL PD for 2012-2013

  11. Needs Assessment 1d • English Learners and Curriculum= here you will put anything school does school wide to support EL students in your school • Examples include: after school tutoring, remediation classes Lessons Learned

  12. Needs Assessment 1d • English Learners and Personnel= here you will put anything school does with personnel to supplement the learning process of ELs • Examples include: ESL teacher on staff, ESL paraprofessional on staff, any PD teachers may have attended or will attend Lessons Learned

  15. ESL students are identified by the Home Language Survey • Students must score a 4.8 on ACCESS Test to exit the program • Regular classroom teachers are responsible for Language Acquisition for EL students ESL Reminders

  16. The core language acquisition program of MCPSS is Specially Designed Academic Instruction in English(SDAIE)through the effective implementation of Tier I instruction utilizing the Cycle of Instruction Model. Core Language Acquisition Program

  17. Alabama is a member of the WIDA Consortium. The World-Class Instructional Design Assessment Consortium (WIDA) is a consortium of 29 states dedicated to the design and implementation of high standards and equitable educational opportunities for English language learners. The WIDA standards encompass: • Social and instructional language usage • The language of Language Arts • The language of Mathematics • The language of Science • The language of Social Studies WIDA Standards
