What’s the Difference Between Accommodations & Interventions? • Accommodation: Strategies that are aimed at helping any student during day-to-day school activities. • Accommodations are part of best practice teaching (e.g., untimed tests, preferential seating, etc.). • Intervention: Involves teaching a specific skill (academic or behavioral), which is monitored by collecting data at least 1x per week. • The intervention should take place at least 2x per week (e.g., small group instruction for math)
CST Process • Teacher emails or submits Form #1 to Alexia Poppy to set up the first CST meeting • Teacher contacts parents/caregiversto invite them to the CST meeting. • Interventions are created at 1st CST meeting. • The teacher(s) consistently implements the first intervention for 3 weeks. • After 3 weeks teacher attends CST meeting #2 • Continue or modify the 1st intervention, or • Move to the second intervention (Tier #3). • The teacher consistently implements the second intervention for 4 weeks. • After 7 weeks of interventions, teacher attends CST meeting #3. • Interventions are reviewed • Determine if SPED referral is necessary
