  3. Who are we? • CORTDC is a not-for-profit volunteer organization dedicated to providing an opportunity for professional truck drivers to show their stuff.  It gives the trucking industry a means to promote safe driving and skill.  By means of a written test, an obstacle course and a truck inspection, drivers compete to represent the Central Ontario Region in the annual Ontario Truck Driving Championships, to be held on the third weekend of July each year..

  4. Who can compete? • The competition is open to professional drivers - either company or owner/operator - based in Central Ontario. Drivers can enter one of six divisions, or classes.Shunt drivers (yard drivers, hostlers) are eligible to compete.(Subject to regular eligibility rules)

  5. Some Basic Eligibility Rules • You must be legally licensed to operate the class of vehicle for the event in which you are competing. • You must compete in the jurisdiction in which your license was issued. • During the 12 months preceding the date of the competition, you must: • Have performed the regular duties of a full-time professional truck driver for at least 11 months. Days off and vacation time to which you are entitled by your employer do not count against you. In situations of extended time lost due to legitimate problems such as unintentional layoff or a WCB claim, you may request to enter the Championship, and, depending on the length of time in question, eligibility may or may not be granted. Each request will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. The decision of the Committee is final; • Not have been employed by more than 2 employers; • Not have had any preventable collisions. The definition of “preventable” in the Canada Safety Council Professional Driver’s Improvement Course Manual will apply; and, • Not have had your license suspended. • During the 5 years preceding the competition, you must not have had any Criminal Code driving convictions registered against you.
