“Brilliant pub, even better, the people who live and breath it!” Reviewed 6 February 2012 We have just got back from having our wedding reception / weekend in Ennerdale. We stayed in another property but our guests filled the Fox and Hounds amongst other B & B s. the pub is clean, warm , cosy and inviting. The food is excellent and they cater for large groups with ease ( although it's best to ring up in advance and warn them your coming!) This place shows what people power can do. We did have many guests who were also due to stay in the other pub in the village, the shepherds arms, but this closed down, 48 hours before our wedding! The staff at the fox and hounds rallied round and found accommodation for all 14 bedless guests at really short notice. Managing, out of season, to convince people to open up for us. Amazing. There was even an offer of staying with one member of staff if needed. Throughout the weekend we felt our every need was met and they really went the extra mile to ensure that their village did the best it could for us . Highly recommended!..... thank you guys. “Surprisingly good food” Reviewed 11 December 2011 The great thing about this inn is that it is now owned by the community. The dinner was surprisingly good and the value was excellent in a friendly atmosphere. Emigre_grise San Francisco Bay Area
“Fantastic Brilliant So Glad We Chose to have our Wedding Reception on 25th November with you!!” Reviewed 29 November 2011 When we asked our son, 'where should we have our reception meal' his answer was 'The Fox and Hounds!' our last visit was excellent and our 16yr old was totally impressed. Our 30+guests were amazed at the quality and the quantity of food as well as the most reasonable price! Our guests in the main all pre ordered and were all very happy with the food and service, our local friends will all be coming back again! Our room was very warm, very comfy, and had all the amenities we could wish for!Breakfast was lovely, only regret was I couldn't eat it all, as it was fantastic!!On the whole this pub is welcoming to locals and those who visited us from away! Food was excellent, service was excellent cannot fault!oh yes, and to top it off, we only gave the pub and the guests 3 weeks notice that we were getting married!! lol, fantastic and spontaneous!
