Woman’s Christian Temperance Union • Founded by a group of women in 1874 • Saw alcohol as the root of all problems in society, tried to convince men to “give up the drink.” • By 1889, had 39 divisions devoted to various causes– workplace safety, world peace, public health.
Susan B. Anthony • Arrested in 1872 for voting! • Tried to get Congress to pass constitutional amendment granting women suffrage.
