Fieldbus H1: Connecting the Sensors • Can be used in all Area Classifications and environments • Intrinsically Safe • Full immersion, Dust,… • Bi-directional communications • Supports Discrete (on/off) and Analog signals • Power supplied on cable • Single wire pair to each device • Proven technology for more than 10 years in the field • Global support
PID AI Fieldbus H1 Capabilities (cont) • Control in the Field • No central controller required for regulatory control • Deterministic • Execute at specific time • Acyclic (without taking system off line) • Maintenance information • Alarms • Configuration changes Control Information AO
High Speed Ethernet (HSE) • Controller Level communications protocol based on Standard Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) Ethernet • 100 MBps normal bandwidth • Encapsulates ALL the functionality of Foundation Fieldbus H1 protocol • No conversion of data required means full integration in a single control environment • Linking Device used to “bridge” from H1 to HSE
HSE Linking Devices Additional Manufacturers HSE Linking Devices H1 Power Supplies Ethernet Cable H1 Segments …and more are coming
Control in the Field • When developing HSE the Flexible Function Block (FFB) was also created • Two Flavors • Multiple I/O – 8 signals sent as one packet • Flexible – FULLY user configurable and programmable using IEC standard languages • FFB can be programmed by End User or Manufacturer to perform ANY calculation they wish
Flexible Function Block Uses • Protocol Conversion • Logic solving • If this condition respond in this way • Batch recipes • Based on time (i.e. reference signal at 07:00 every day) • Advanced Control applications • “Portable” to other systems
SAM – Sensor Actuator Manager • Separate Functionality of SAM across more than one Physical Devices • Those functions that cannot be handled by the Linking Device are few leaving “traditional” SAM to serve as an HMI only • Vendor independent HMI possible • OPC to connect with any other system • Full integration with Distributed Control System
