  4. Passenger Airline Operating Margin and Airport Enplanements When passengers decrease, airports suffer large losses. A good year for airlines does not necessarily mean a good year for airports.

  5. Conclusions Recent fuel spike in 2008 increased industry overhead and economic recession decreased flight demand. These factors have greatly hindered commercial air profits in the past few years The airline industry hopes that current drop in fuel price will exceed the drop in demand History shows that the future of the commercial aviation industry depends largely on sustained U.S. economic growth.
