Gamma energy resolution under realistic conditions(adding signals from surrounding detectors) Simulations point to the problems with the large Moliere radius E = 15 MeV Simulation figure! (show effect of wrapping comment LaBr housing) This figure just demonstrates the problem - Actual results are presented by Doug di Julio in the ”Simulations” session, Wednesday 09.00!
Proton energy resolution under ideal conditions In-beam test no 2: The Svedberg Laboratory, Uppsala, Sweden. Accepted proposal ”pending” (next possible run period 15 Jan. – 15 July 2009) Test beam developed: 180 MeV, 103s-1 uniformly over one cm2 (CWG-LU 2007). Beam sharing with therapy program. 90 MeV beam to be developed. Local support: Electronics pool, mechanical and electronics workshops, Local DAQ not recommended(private remark). Cost of beam time: Normally 400€/h. No cost for FAIR associated activities? k k This result was obtained for 180 MeV protons with an expected dispersion of 0.4 MeV energy resolution 0.4±0.2% Somewhat worse resolution is expected for CALIFA/barrel detectors Note that the inelastic loss of protons is 25.5% for 100 mm long detector
The harde question left for CALIFA/barrel is the choice of readout device and only when this is answered can we go on with questions concerning DAQ and the joint electronics (..... ASICs) with the tracker
