Laser Lead Extraction —Anesthesia Management Not much literature — Sought input from Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesia Board of Directors • Anesthesiology team seems most often to be present: arterial line and central access are common, TEE variable • Ranges from electrophysiology suite with sedation and no anesthesiologist to OR with general anesthesia, cardiothoracic surgeon, and perfusionist present • Manufacturer’s recommendation is OR, T&C, CT surgeon available • Two anecdotes: • “We started in EP lab and had a bad outcome, now we do in CT OR with GA and cardiac anesthesia…” • Case report of paravertebral blocks + sedation (Tsai T, J Clin Anes 2008;20:379)
