NCC Technology Update – June 24, 2010
Agenda Overview of Hosting Environments • Shared • Dedicated Shared Hosting Platforms • Domino • Oracle Application Server/ Java • Apache Tomcat • ColdFusion • Oracle Database
Overview Shared Hosting • Servers running multiple applications in the same application instance or on the same server • Server settings are the same for all applications • All applications must run at the same software version • Cheaper than dedicated hosting Dedicated Hosting • A single server running a single application and/or multiple applications for the same customer • Greater flexibility of server settings • Ability to run a higher or lower version of software than what is available in the shared environment • More expensive than shared hosting
Shared Application Platforms Application Platforms • Lotus Domino • ColdFusion • Oracle Application Server (OAS) • Apache Tomcat Database Platforms • Oracle Database
Domino - Plans for the Future • Recently Upgraded from 8.0.1 to 8.5.1 FP2 • Move from Blade Servers to Virtual Machines in FY2011 • Support for FIPS140-2 for SSL encryption
