  2. Mansa Musa Mansa Musa was an emperorof Malifor 25 years. He brought orderand peaceto the kingdom of Mali. Mansa Musa based his laws on the Quran. *The Quran- the holy book of Islam. Religion spread through tradein Africa. In 1324 Mansa Musa took a pilgrimage to the city of Mecca. Mali – color in Mali on the map in your book.

Their music had a complex rhythym. As the African people were sold into slavery, their rich culture was not allowed to be expressed except for oral stories and songssuch as the work-song and the spiritual. Jazz had begun from the ballads and hymns that they created.

This was caused by Civil Warin Africa. Refugee - a person who flees for refugee or safety, especially to a foreign country, as in time of political upheaval, war, etc.
