  2. What is a typhoon? A typhoon is a tropical storm in the region of the Indian or Western pacific oceans. A hurricane, cyclones, and typhoons are all the same weather, we just use different names for them.

  3. When and What Forms a Typhoon? A typhoon forms when warm tropical waters collide with low pressure weather systems. A typhoon is created by a gradual increase of the ocean waters temperature. Typhoon season is mainly on June and November.

  4. Why was Typhoon Haiyan so destructive? The Typhoon Haiyan is so destructive because it can be classified as a monsoon when it reaches 74 miles ph. In these pictures it shows how destructive it was.

  6. *How to be safe when a typhoon hits Stay indoors and keep calm. Monitor TV and radio reports. Secure your home. Trim trees near dwellings. Keep roads clear for emergency vehicles. If your house is in a flood-prone area, go to the nearest designated evacuation center. Have a flashlight and radio handy, with fresh batteries. Stock up on food, potable water, kerosene, batteries and first-aid supplies. In case of flooding, turn off the main sources of electricity, gas and water in your home. Stack furniture above the expected flood level. Keep appliances, valuables, chemicals, toxic substances and garbage beyond reach of floodwaters. Avoid low-lying areas, riverbanks, creeks and coastal areas, slopes, cliffs and foothills. Rains can trigger landslides, rockslides or mudslides. Avoid wading through flooded areas. Do not attempt to cross flowing streams. Do not use gas or electrical appliances that have been flooded.
