Nijmegen School of Management Welcome Days – Academic Writing and Referencing Workshop Idea came into being during faculty orientation NSM Welcome Days 2012 and after first year of Erasmus Mundus Master PLANET Europe Differences in academic writing and referencing styles were apparent (Bachelor Ukraine vs. Spain) Need for a refresher course/ short workshop on the key points of writing an academic essay at NSM No need to fail first assignments
Academic Writing and Referencing Workshop: Why and how? First meeting with teachers Academic Skills English Bachelor tracks International Business Administration (IBA) & International Economics & Business (IE&B) Other meetings/discussions on university and faculty level First launched at the NSM Welcome Days 2013 as pilot Obligatory (strongly recommended) workshop Average grade evaluation 8 (scale 1-10)

NSM Welcome Days 2014 Together with “HBO/WO-Instromers” (students that join a Master programme at NSM from a Dutch University of Applied Sciences or a different University in the Netherlands) Pilot to create a more international faculty atmosphere/cultural awareness/mixing international and Dutch students Approximately 160-200 students
