Assessments 2012-2013 • Fall of 2012 (Oct. 15-Nov. 2): A small-scale pilot (30 districts) of the Smarter Balanced Assessment items. Districts chosen by SBAC. This small-scale pilot is not associated with KU/CETE but rather AIR (the SBAC assessment vendor) • Spring of 2013: A large-scale pilot (still optional) of the SBAC items. Why participate in the Spring/Fall SBAC pilot? • Districts and schools will have the opportunity to interact with the software (student enrollment, test administrator interface) that will be part of the Smarter Balanced assessments. • Students will have the opportunity to interact with the software and some of the item types that will be part of the Smarter Balanced assessments.
What technology requirements will my district need if we want to participate in the larger Spring pilot?
Fall Pilot of the Career Pathways Assessment System(cPass) Who? 11thor 12th graders completed at least one CTE course or currently enrolled in a fall semester CTE course would be eligible. When? Nov. 5th through Dec. 15th. How? The cPass pilot will use the new Kansas Interactive Testing Engine (KITE) system. www.careerpathways.us. There is currently a link at the bottom of the Career Pathways website (above) to download KITE. The KITE system will be available to receive student records beginning October 15th. Information is forthcoming about a webinar orientation for KITE on October 16th.
2013-2014 • Spring 2014 – Administer current state assessments (Reading, Mathematics, Science, History-Government, KELPA) • Spring 2014 – Administer Kansas Common Core SBAC field test • Field-test general CTE assessments • Continue pilot efforts for iPad
2014-2015 • Spring of 2015: administer Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) Assessment • Administer new ELPA assessment • Administer state science assessment • Administer new Kansas Common Core Assessment (SBAC): language arts, writing, mathematics
