Daniel DeKoter passed the Iowa bar examination in June 1980 immediately after graduating from the law school.

Alumnus Of University Of Iowa Law School Daniel DeKoter graduated from Maurice-Orange City High School in 1973 where he was a National Merit Scholarship Finalist. He was also the winner of a William Randolph Hearst Foundation Senate Youth Program scholarship. It is a prestigious scholarship program in which only two students are awarded in each state. He also won two gold medals in Iowa High School Athletic Association State Track Meet.
He majored in Philosophy and had a minor in English at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He graduated from this college in 1977 by securing 11th rank in a class of 700 students. At Calvin, he was on his dormitory council and also wrote for the student newspaper, the Calvin Chimes. He attained a J.D degree and was ranked in top 20 percent of his law school class.
Wrote For the Iowa Law Review. Daniel DeKoter passed the Iowa bar examination in June 1980 immediately after graduating from the law school. He joined the Corcoran, Skiver and Zito law firm in Sibley, Iowa and has been working with this firm since then which is now known as DeKoter, Thole & Dawson, P.L.C.
