2. Ein paar grundsätzliche Dinge zum Einstieg: Den Studierenden der Soziologie stehen in Hamburg jedes Jahr zahlreiche Erasmus-Austauschplätze zur Verfügung. Wir fördern die Internationalität unserer Studierenden und freuen uns über das Interesse an anderen Ländern und Studienorten. Wir versuchen, Ihnen den Aufenthalt zu ermöglichen und die Integration der dort erworbenen Studienleistungen in Ihr hiesiges Studium möglichst reibungslos zu gewährleisten. Seit der Einführung der BA- und MA-Studiengänge ist das Austauschprogramm intensiviert worden! Wenn Sie ins Ausland gehen, machen Sie Werbung für die Soziologie in Hamburg!

It was founded in 1811 when Norway was still under Danish rule. Today the University of Oslo has approx. 30,000 students and 4,600 employees. Banverket and Vägverket are the university's neighbors. Nature and culture have attracted tourists here since before the 1800s. As a university department, the Department of Sociology plays a special role in the way the social sciences divide up their work and, consequently, has a duty to continue developing the subject's key theories and methodologies. The purpose of the Department's research is, therefore, both to contribute theoretically and methodically to international sociology, and to produce theoretically and empirically based analyses for the Danish public that are both socially relevant and topical.

The University of Gdańsk was founded on 20 March 1970. It was formed from an amalgamation of two institutions of higher education: the Higher Economics School in Sopot and the Higher Pedagogical School in Gdańsk. Later, it also included the Higher Teacher Training School. The precursor of the University of Gdańsk was the Higher School of Maritime Trade in Sopot, which began its activities in 1945 and awarded its first degrees in 1947.

The social sciences-oriented faculty’s independence is the result of the many years of existence of some branches within the Faculty of Arts that as early as in 1921 established Department of Sociology – today one of the oldest institutions of that kind in Europe. In 2005 the faculty moved to a just reconstructed building in Joštova Street that offered the students excellent conditions: a modern-layout library containing a superb choice of world publications, sufficient amount of personal computers in computer laboratories, specialised DTP studios and multimedia laboratories. Several rooms in students’ club also belong to the faculty. The glazed patio hall amazing with its layout and architecture design is a common place for social gatherings.
