GOAL Reduce the incidence of Hospital acquired infections by engaging and motivating staff
Reinforce Best Practices Must be implemented, understood and followed by all Staff members • Reduce Catheter Related Bloodstream Infections • Dedicated insertion team, aseptic practice, 1-2 minute scrub the hub, removal of lines • Reduce Ventilator Associated Infections • HOB elevated 15-30 degrees • Closed in line suction for all vented patients • Separate system for oral suctioning • Vent Circuits changed every 7 days • Environmental cleaning and disinfection • Q 4 hours and as necessary with 10% bleach solution • Implement a strong Hand Hygiene program • Includes alcohol hand rub at bedside, ‘knock on the door’ concept for hand hygiene, hand hygiene champion program
