Mission • To prepare teachers in technology so our 21st century students may thrive and better comprehend core subjects. Because we are heading into a era where technology is everywhere; this will also prepare students for jobs that have yet been created in the future.
Computers on Campus Other technologies in classroom Document camera (elmo) Projector Smartboard Laptops (for teachers) Flat screen TVs (science teachers) • 110 “terminals” in LRC • 60 “terminals” in library • 5 BCIS classes with 30 “terminals” • 4 “terminals” per classroom (standard) • All classrooms, library and LRC have OKI black and white printers. • All “terminals” are not USB friendly.
Problems with technology now according to students • Blocked internet sites • Terminals that do not allow USB drives • Not enough computers • Not enough teaching with technology • Black and white printers • Slow internet • Save paper, submit online
What do we need? • User friendly trainings • More technology friendly environment • Exposing students to different technology based programs e.g. PPT, Prezi, Photostory • Using the smart board • Benefit of the Doubt
Why is this necessary? • Help improve comprehension in core and struggling subjects such as science & math • Project based work • Collaboration w/ others • Opportunity for creativity • Getting students ready for the future • Online classes • Research using databases • Future jobs
