  3. THARPARKAR Thar, the general term for “sand ridges” and Parkar literary "to cross over“, evolved into Tharparkar. In 1990, the present districts of Tharparkar, was created, with Mitthi as its District Head Quarter. The district lies between 24° 10' to 25°45' north latitudes and 69' 04' to 71°06' east longitude. It is bounded on the north by Mirpurkhas and Umerkot districts, on east by Barmer and Jaisselmir districts of India, on west by district Badin and on south by Rann of Kutch. The total area of the district is 19,638. square kilometers.

  4. Thar was struck by a serious famine in 1998. Al-Khidmat created history by reaching out to the affected people timely. Ration and food items were distributed among thousands of families. Medical camps were arranged throughout the region. ’ZamZam’ project was implanted to ensure clean water provision. More than 500 waterwells were dug. Al-Khidmat Foundation also made 40 schools under ‘Al-Ilm projects’. Al-Khidmat povided interest-free loans to 500 people thus helped thousands of affectees to return to their normal lives.   9. Beneficiary 3000Students Al-IlmSanvi Project Education Scholarships are given to bright student of chawnra school who desire to attain further education. Also established a boys Hostel at Mitthi Tharparkar.

  10. Volume 13 Million PKR Rozgar Scheme Started in 2007 A Interest free micro-finance initiative, which facilitate unemployed individuals set-up their own sources of income. In District Tharparkar, Umarkoat, Mirpurkhas & Thattha.

  11. Since1997 Community Service A seasonal relief mechanism which provides need based humanitarian aid in terms of food supplies, clothing, qurbani meat, veterinary medicines and mass wedding.

  12. TharparkerSituation Tharparkaris Pakistan’s largest and world’s seventh largest desert. It is the only fertile desert in the world. It is situated almost 433 kilometers away from Karachi. It sprawls over an area of 19,638 km2 and a population of more than 914,291. It is home to many poor people whose livelihood majorly depends on agriculture and livestock. Three districts of Tharparkar—Mitthi, Diplu, and Chachero—have been arid due to insufficient rainfall in the past two years. Consequently, there has been no crop or fodder. The amount of clean drinking water has also depleted. There is a stark deficiency of eatables. To make matters worse, a large number of animals have also perished. Hence a major source of milk is no longer available. According to reports, at least 200 children have died due to malnutrition and phenomena. Another report suggests that one-third of the population is malnourished. Unfortunately, the situation is aggravating every passing minute and more than 175,000 peoples have been affected by famine. Children and women are facing malnutrition. There is a stark deficiency of clean drinking water and the number of premature births has surged, increasing the probability of mortality rate. Diarrhea & Malaria, Phenomena are rampant, especially among children.

  13. Since7th March 2014 Al-Khidmat Relief Activities Al-KhidmatFoundation declared Mitthi as their base camp. President Al-Khidmat Foundation Sindh, Dr. Syed. TabassumJaffriand Local Leader of TharparkerMr. Mir Muhammad Balediare overseeing Al- Khidmat Foundation's relief activities. Since 7th March, 2014 Al Khidmat Foundation has sent 22 trucks of Relief Goods to Mitthi, Tharparkar carrying Ration packages, Rice, Floor, Milk Powder, Vegetables, Tea, Biscuits, Drinking Water & Tins of Meat. 22 Trucks 10 Million PKR Volunteers300
