BEPCII/BESIII BEPC: Beijing Electron Positron Collider • Started in 1989 • 2~5GeV/C • Being upgraded to Dual-Ring, (3~10)×1032 cm-2s-1 • 27 Universities and Institutes from US, UK, Japan, Korea and China. Gang Chen/CC/IHEP 2014/9/14 - 3
BESIII Computing • CPU:>1000 P-IV/3GHz CPU for data production/reconstructionand physics analysis • Storage:more than 3PB in 5 years. • Network:for international/domestic communications Gang Chen/CC/IHEP 2014/9/14 - 4

Multipurpose Platform • A multipurpose platform is supposed for ‘all experiments’ • LCG is the solution for LHC but • LCG could also be the solution for other experiments. Gang Chen/CC/IHEP 2014/9/14 - 7

LCG Testbed • LHC, BESIII softwares are running • Trying to port YBJ to LCG, cooperating between CNIC and IHEP. Supported by NSFC. Gang Chen/CC/IHEP 2014/9/14 - 10

Why Tier-1: Essential for LHC • A Tier-1 is essential for the Chinese physicists involved in LHC experiments.China contributed a lot on building LHC detectors. Physicists need a tool to access and analyze LHC data.No computing, no physics! Gang Chen/CC/IHEP 2014/9/14 - 26
