Raft • A flat boat made of logs fastened together. • Mark Twain wrote a famous story about a boy who explores the Mississippi River on a raft.
2. scattered • Spread or thrown about in various places • When Matt dropped the checker board, the checkers scattered over the floor.
3. cluttered • Appearing crowded with items. • Laura’s room was so cluttered with toys that it was hard to walk without stepping on one.
4. downstream • In the same direction as the current or stream. • Salmon are born in rivers, but soon after, they swim downstream to the ocean.
5. nuzzle • To touch or rub with the nose. • The cat will nuzzle my leg when she is hungry and wants to be fed.
6. snorkel • A mask with a curved tube worn in the water • We used a snorkel to swim underwater and watch the fish.
7. otter • A furry animal that lives on or near water. • We love to watch the otters lay on their back and eat in the water.
8. bobber • A fishing float • When the float sank, I knew I’d caught a fish.
