X-ray K-edge Absorption and Emission Spectroscopy of Fe 2 O 3 at High Pressure

XES. K α 1 emission peak shows increasing symmetry upon pressure increase. Evidence of the on-going Mott insulator-metal transition. A first measurement of crystal field splitting energy (CFSE) of Fe 2 O 3 at high pressure up to 45 GPa. CFSE increases with pressure.

  1. XES • Kα1 emission peak shows increasing symmetry upon pressure increase. • Evidence of the on-going Mott insulator-metal transition. • A first measurement of crystal field splitting energy (CFSE) of Fe2O3 at high pressure up to 45 GPa. • CFSE increases with pressure. • The data suggest HS to LS transition.
