  1. Yr 10 GCSE PE Information Evening

  2. Expectations • 1 Double practical lesson each week • Bring kit (even if you have a note for illness/injury) • Bring folder, as you may be given information sheets for the practical work

  3. 1 single theory lesson each week • Bring folder • Homework usually set in this lesson, for the following week.

  4. Practical Work • This forms 60% of the overall mark. • We do a different activity each half term. • There will be a teacher assessment at the end of each half term • All the practical work is formally assessed in a final assessment just before Easter in Year 11.

  5. How do we choose the practical areas you use? • You will be assessed in lessons in all the following areas: • Hockey • Badminton • Athletics • Rounders • Personal Survival • Netball/Football

  6. Pupil: Miss Munn • Hockey 6 • Badminton7 • Athletics8 • Rounders8 • Personal Survival 5 • Netball/Football 10 • The activities in red are the 4 that I would use.

  7. Activities out of school • Golf • Horse Riding • Karate • Gymnastics • Dance • You take the criteria to your coach, and they give you a teacher assessment that we add to your data. This can be included in your final 4 activities.

  8. Analysis of Performance • One of your final 4 activities, needs to be used as your analysis of performance area. • This should be the sport that you know the most about.

  9. 5 assessed areas of AOP • Rules, regulations, terminology • Observe, analyse performance • Evaluate Performance • Plan strategies, tactics, practices • Plan a Personal Exercise programme

  10. Controlled Assessment • AOP is tested by a 15 min verbal exam with a member of PE staff. • You will be asked questions on the first 4 areas, and given a mark out of 4 for each area. • You will have a chance to practise these throughout your practical lessons, but you will have a mock in December of Yr 11

  11. PEP • The final part of the AOP is to plan and perform a 6 week training programme. • This must be planned, typed up, and evaluated during lesson time. • You do 3 sessions a week, for 6 weeks. One session is completed in the lesson, the other 2 are done in your own time, but must be written up and evaluated in lessons as controlled assessment.

  12. Analysis of Performance • This accounts for 12% of your practical mark, so really can make the difference between an A* and an A, or a C and a D

  13. Practical exam • In the old format, you gained half of your practical mark through coursework, and half in your final practical exam • Now, you gain all your marks in your final practical exam. • What we see on the day, is what we mark. • So it is very important to practise the drills and techniques in the lesson, so that you are less likely to make a mistake in the actual exam.

  14. To Recap • Your 1st assessment will be your PEP at the start of Yr 11 • You will have your actual AOP verbal exam around March in Year 11 • You will have your final practical exam around Easter in Yr 11 • Your Theory exam is usually one of the first you will sit in May. (40% of overall grade)
