  3. Mobile Accord Overview • Founded in early 2005, MAI is the industry’s first and leading Mobile Application Service Provider/Cause-Marketing Agency dedicated to assisting nonprofits and corporate cause-marketing clients benefit from the power of mobile technology. • For almost 3 years MAI has worked to open the mobile giving channel in the US and that goal is now a reality! We continue to lead the way by developing innovative technology, educating nonprofits about the power of the mobile channel and encouraging US wireless carriers to embrace a framework for mobile giving.

  4. Mobile Giving • Nonprofits in many other countries have been collecting mobile donations via text message for several years and now their American counterparts have the chance to benefit from the power and reach of this vital new fundraising channel. • In the past, wireless carriers have conducted mobile donation campaigns in response to major disasters like Katrina; however, this is the first time the channel will be used for day-to-day fundraising efforts.

  5. Nonprofits Certifies NPO Participation 501c3 Manages Industry Standards & Best Practices Facilities Distribution of Funds • Mobile Marketing Services • Cross Carrier Connectivity • Online Campaign Management Tools • Facilities Text Message Delivery • Content Development & Distribution • ECRM Database Integration • Short Code Management • Carrier Approval Process Donors Carriers

  6. What is the Mobile Giving Foundation? • The Mobile Giving Foundation (MGF) is a 501C3 responsible for certifying nonprofits wishing to participate in a mobile donation program, distributing funds/donations collected by wireless carriers, managing the wireless industry’s Mobile Giving Standards and Best Practices and insuring compliance with Federal and State Regulations. • As MGF is an integral part of the Mobile Giving Ecosystem your organization will need to fill out an application for approval and sign service agreements with MGF and Mobile Accord.

  7. How does my organization receive the funds collected as a result of mobile donations? • The charge is automatically added to the donor’s mobile phone bill and is identified on a separate line item as a donation. • Each donation is collected by the participating wireless carrier when the mobile donor pays their monthly mobile phone bill. • The system processes the donations collected by each carrier (by campaign ID number and keyword) and your organization receives a monthly check directly from the Mobile Giving Foundation representing net proceeds (collected funds minus a $0.50 or 10% per transaction MGF fee).
