How to Avoid Doom • DO NOT PROFANE WHAT IS HOLY Vs 1-4 • Drinking from the vessels that were taken from the temple. • God will punish those who profane, just as He did in the past. • Pro-fain = against or far away from the Temple - hence it is people, behavior or any instrumentality that is far from God. • Mistreating one’s body. • Mistreating God’s institutions – marriage, communion, laws, ordinances • 1 Pet 1:15,16 – By not being holy - Holiness is not transferable - but uncleanness could be. • Ex 30:14 profane fire = source in human effort, rather than divine causation • Mixing the hot and cold (good and evil) • The solution - It is whom you spend time with - Acts 4:13
How to Avoid Doom SEEK TO UNDERSTAND THE HAND WRITING ON THE WALL - Vs 5-12 • Fear caused a desire to understand the handwriting on the wall. • Discovered natural men are unable to discern spiritual things - Spiritual things need to be spiritually discerned. • The Word of God, is God’s final and only handwriting that is available for us today. • Brought Daniel to interpret the writing - Vs 14 - “I have heard of you, that the spirit of God in you” • Only the Holy Spirit can illuminate the Word of God, because He is the author • Believers can have a constant illumination of the Word, when they • Do not quench the Holy Spirit. • Do not Grieve the Holy Spirit. • Lie to the Holy Spirit - Acts 6 • Paying attention to God’s wisdom - Pr 5:1 • Pr 4:14,15 - “do not enter the path of the wicked. And do not walk in the way of evil.”
