  4. Allgemein • Entstand, um Nachrichten zwischen Computern auszutauschen (in 60ern) • Lange mindestens 1-2 an jedem PC • Anderer Name: EIA-232 • Englisch: COM-Port

  5. Gebrauch • Klassische Endgeräte: Maus, Tastatur, Modem, serieller Drucker, etc. • Mit USB Bedeutung verloren • Technische Einrichtungen im industriellen Umfeld

  6. Technisch • (bit-)seriell: Bits nacheinander, nicht parallel • 1 Datenleitung für beide Richtungen • Entspricht Standards: RS-232 (C) und V.24 • Bis zu 57600 Bit/s • Ausgangsstrom bis zu 10mA
