  2. I can statement/agenda • Today, 10/6, I can practice note taking strategies by reading about the struggle for freedom in the USA. Agenda: • Warm up • Note taking strategies (Boxes and Bullets) • Silent Read/note take: The Struggle for Freedom • Share our notes

  3. What is boxes and bullets? • When we read NON Fiction (TRUE) stories, we use boxes and bullets to take notes • IN A BOX: • The main idea or key vocabulary • Under each box is a BULLET: • Details • Facts • Definitions • Numbers

  4. Welcome to study hall • 7th graders sit on East side of class, 8th graders on West side of class • Get out silent reading book or homework • Wait to receive materials before leaving for other classrooms • 7th grade agenda: • Pass out important documents • Silent homework or reading • Lunch • Quiz practice for social studies quiz tomorrow

  5. Welcome to Social Studies Presenters! 10/6/11 • Materials managers: social studies notebooks • Warm Up: • Label table of contents: “D.O.I. presentation notes” • Label the next blank page of your SS notebook: “D.O.I. presentation notes”

  6. I can statement/ agenda • Today, 10/6, I can present my translations of the D.O.I. by sharing my words and the voice of a marginalized people’s. Agenda • Warm up/set up notebooks (10 minutes) • Group preparation time (5 minutes) • Presentations/note taking (30 minutes)

  7. Welcome Published Writers!!! 10/6/11 • Materials managers: return Social Studies notebooks • Warm Up: • Get out 2 copies of final draft • Get out rubric with your name • Clear desk of all materials except drafts, rubric and pen/pencil
