  2. Introduction Trumpet comes in first with a pick up, then the drum set, saxophone and sousaphone join in. The sousaphone, saxophone, and drum set stay in the background.

  3. Instruments • Trumpet • Trombone • Saxophone • Sousaphone • Drum Set

  4. Soloists • Trumpet at the beginning • Saxophone – trades off with the trumpet • Trombone -The saxophone plays again after the trombone.

  5. Timbre/Texture • The sousaphone and drum set accompany the soloists through out the piece. • Usually about 3 instruments playing at a time. Thin texture. • All the instruments are playing by the end of the piece.

  6. Dynamics • The accompaniment is quieter than the soloists. • When the soloists trade off, the previous instrument does a decrescendo while the instrument coming in does a crescendo. • The Instrument with the melody plays at forte.
