Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors • Evolved through plant sizes of 220, 540 to the present 700 MWe • Matured indigenous technology with impeccable safety record • Standardised plant size of 700 MWe • Standard plant design • Exploring single or two standard seismic designs • Use of Integrated Engineering Environment tools for engineering • Project implementation through Mega ePC packages • Target construction period of 5 years
Continuous Run (more than a year) RAPS 5 - 400 days (continuing)
Light Water Reactors • LWRs, as additionalities, being implemented through international collaboration. • Business model formulated for optimisation of cost and for meeting design & safety requirements.

Support from Industry • Indian industry has developed capability to supply NPP equipment & components • The rapid expansion programme will require industry support for maintaining supply chain for high quality equipment, meeting project schedules.
Conclusion • NPCIL is poised for the rapid expansion programme • Synergy between NPCIL and Indian industry is a key element to meet the programme • The programme can be realised in a national mission mode with the support of all stakeholders
