CO-OPERATIVE MOVEMENT IN MALAYSIA • Co-operative was introduce in Malaya by Colonial Government in 1909 • Take root in 1922, in response to rural problems relating to credit and indebtness • Co-operatives movement has made significant progress since it was first introduce in 1922. • Government’s consistent support for the growth and development in almost every economic sphere
CO-OPERATIVE TRAINING & EDUCATION • Co-operative training & education is a vital factor for growth and expansion of co-operation as a social economic movement • Co-operative education is of a paramount important fo the co-operative movement • Education and training are correlated and interdependent • Encourage members to make greater use of their co-operatives and, in turn, lead their support to their institution
5th Principles Of The Co-operative Principle “Co-operatives provide education and training for their members, elected representatives, managers, and employees so they can contribute effectively to the development of their co-operatives, They inform the general public - particularly young people and opinion leaders - about the nature and benefits of co-operation.”

CO-OPERATIVE COLLEGE OF MALAYSIA • established by 1st November 1956, finance from Colonial Welfare and Development • Incorporated as Statutory Body in 1968 • Agency under the Ministry of Domestic Trade Co-operative and Comsumerism(MDTCC) • The one and only co-operative education institution in Malaysia
